sheerME put beauty and wellness in one app — now the selection has to feel better than Google

Nobody picks a hairdresser the way they pick a train ticket. Style, atmosphere and trust matter far more than an open slot at 4.30pm. Portugal's sheerME has gathered beauty and wellness in one app; the next step is curation, not more calendars.

A haircut, a massage, nails before a party and a training session after the holidays usually live in four unrelated booking systems. Portugal's sheerME has set out to bring much of this together in one place, and the company appears on Wired UK's list of Europe's hottest startups.

sheerME is a marketplace for beauty and wellness where users can book services with thousands of businesses across beauty, salons and fitness, among others. The model is practical, but the brand opportunity is considerably larger than becoming another app full of available time slots.

Beauty isn't bought like a train ticket

When someone chooses a hairdresser, a facial or a massage, the decision is rarely about time and price alone. Style, atmosphere, reputation, personality and trust carry real weight, which means sheerME has to help the customer judge far more than the calendar.

That makes curation central. If every provider looks the same inside the app, the market is reduced to a price comparison — rarely an attractive position for the platform or for the best salons.

BBMB's recommendation: become a beauty editor, not just a booking system

In BBMB's view, sheerME should operate more like a lifestyle publication. The platform can build guides, trend reports, profiles, editorial selections and recommendations that give users a reason to open the app even when they don't yet know what they want to book.

That layer would also give premium operators a stronger reason to want visibility there. The best salons have no interest in floating in a digital sea where the only differentiator is the price of a treatment.

This sits close to BBMB's work with beauty and lifestyle brands, where storytelling, image and the right setting around an offer shape how the customer values it.

The next asset may be data about taste

The more bookings sheerME handles, the better it can understand how beauty and wellness consumption shifts between cities and audiences. That knowledge can become content in its own right, and give the company a clear position as an expert voice with customers, salons and media alike.

At that point, sheerME is no longer simply where you find a slot at 4.30pm. It becomes the place where you first discover what you want to book.
